NILES -- Police here have partnered with Crimestoppers in Youngstown to try to further the investigation into the October 2016 death of an elderly woman inside her Hiram Street home.
The agencies announced Tuesday there is now a $10,000 reward leading to the arrest and conviction of persons involved in the death of Arlene Frasca, 74.
The department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation have "developed persons of interest and our hope is this reward will motivate tips and information to further solidify this case," said Niles police Chief Jay Holland.
Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers at 330-746-CLUE. Information can be provided anonymously, Holland said.
Frasca was found dead just before 11 p.m. Oct. 6, 2016, by police at the bottom of the basement stairs inside her home at 1626 Hiram St. after her husband, Angelo, called 911.
Holland said previously two men targeted the house, looking for something specific, but he would not say what it was. When Angelo Frasca called 911, he told the dispatcher the men held guns to the couple's heads and robbed them. He said the men did something to his wife and that he could not get her up from the floor.
Angelo Frasca also was injured in the home invasion, but returned home the next day with his arm in a sling.
Arlene Frasca was actively involved in the community. She was a former member of the Warren Junior Women's League, board member for the Art Outreach Gallery at the Eastwood Mall, a member of the Viestani-Amerital club and a poll worker for the Board of Elections. She also worked for 29 years at the Trumbull County Courthouse.
