Support in Niles judge race spread among four candidates

NILES -- None of the four candidates running for the Niles Municipal Court judge seat in the Democratic primary won 50 percent or more of the vote in a poll of local attorneys, according to the Trumbull County Bar Association.

Gil Blair, John Gargano, Chris Shaker and Terry Swauger are seeking the seat Judge Thomas Townley is leaving at the end of 2017.

The bar association polled its members March 13 and found none of the candidates for the May 2 race received 50 percent or more of the votes.

The six-year term begins January 2018.
