Niles prosecutor to seek judgeship
NILES -- The city prosecutor has announced his candidacy for Niles Municipal Court judge.
Terry Swauger, of Niles, is seeking the seat Judge Thomas Townley is leaving vacant when he retires at the end of the year. The term begins January 2018.
Swauger has been the prosecutor in Niles since 2007, has practiced law in Trumbull County for over 21 years and is the principal partner in the law firm of Tackett & Swauger LLC, according to a press release.
Attorney Christopher J. Shaker and Weathersfield Township trustee Gil Blair also announced they will run in the May 2 primary.
Gil Blair to run for Niles judge
NILES -- A Weathersfield Township trustee and assistant law director for the city of Warren has announced his candidacy for Niles Municipal judge.
Gil Blair's candidacy adds a third person seeking the seat of Judge Thomas Townley who is retiring at the end of the year.
A lawyer for 21 years, Blair has served for 10 years as trial counsel for the Progressive Insurance group. He is serving his second term as Weathersfield trustee.
Attorney Christopher J. Shaker and Niles prosecutor Terry Swauger also announced they will run in the May 2 primary. The six-year term for municipal judge begins in January 2018.
Luck of the Irish fundraiser set
NILES -- St. Stephen Parish will hold its annual Luck of the Irish fundraiser 5:30 p.m. March 18 at Ciminero's Banquet Centre, 123 N. Main St., Niles.
