MINERAL RIDGE -- The Mineral Ridge Historical Society has received two Ohio Historical Society markers to be erected in the township.
Marcy Buchanan of the society said the markers arrived late last year and will be installed in the spring at two locations.
One marker is about Salt Springs and the Western Reserve and will be placed in Kerr Cemetery off Salt Springs Road. The second on the black ban ore found in sections of Mineral Ridge will be placed near the gazebo at the former middle school site off state Route 46.
Buchanen said once the two markers are installed, plans are to seek additional markers for the future to be placed at other locations in the township.
She said members have attended dedication ceremonies for markers in other communities such as Niles and Warren Township.
The society meets 7 p.m the third Tuesday of the month in April, May, September and October in Seaborn Elementary School media center.
The society also showcases many historical items at the historic Moss Ancestral Home, 1499 Burnett St., holds open houses throughout the year.
