Friends of Library to meet Feb. 8
WARREN -- The Friends of the McKinley Memorial Library will meet Feb. 8 at Perkins Restaurant, 1953 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.

Levy committee reactivated in Niles
NILES -- The school board has reactivated a levy committee as it looks at its finances and when levies come up for renewal to see if there is a need in the future for a new levy.
"We want to start talks now to get a pulse of the community and see what direction we want to look at and what funds we have available," Ann Marie Thigpen, school district superintendent, said.
Former school board member Richard Limongi will chair the committee.
Primary hosts reading night
NILES -- Niles Primary School, 960 Frederick St., Niles, will host a Reading Family Night 5 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1.
The family night will have a Super Bowl theme and is for kindergartners, first-, second- and third-graders, and their parents and guardians.
Reading and station activities will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Families will be introduced to LETRS, a reading initiative; explore and practice reading development concepts; learn strategies to help children learn to read; and participate in hands-on activities.
McKinley Library Board sets meetings
NILES -- The McKinley Memorial Library Board of Trustees held its organizational meeting Jan. 9 and named J. Terrance Dull as board president and James A. Yuhasz as board vice president for 2017.
The board will hold its monthly meetings 4:45 p.m. the second Monday of each month in the Clayman Community Room at the McKinley Birthplace Home and Research Center, 40 S. Main St.
