Lordstown eyes moratorium on businesses using battery storage systems

LORDSTOWN — Saying they want to be prepared in case a business seeks a permit that would utilize small mobile reactors or battery energy storage systems, village council on Monday approved a 180-day moratorium on such permits. Niles library awarded federal grant

Staff report NILES — The McKinley Memorial Library has been awarded a federal Institute of Museum and Library Services LSTA grant by the State Library of Ohio. The grant will cover 75% ($1,069) of two of its biggest family events of the summer. The library will only need to pay the remaining 25% ($356), which will come out of its programming budget. Girard OKs shared services deal with Liberty for bus mechanic

GIRARD — For the first time in history, Girard city school officials have approved a shared services agreement with neighboring Liberty schools to share a bus mechanic. The Girard Board of Education met in special session Monday to give its approval with members saying that the Liberty board also is scheduled to meet this week and give their approval for the agreement. Staff report BAZETTA — The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is seeking the public’s help to identify the people responsible for a weekend fire outside a home on Perkins Jones Court. At 12:21 a.m. Saturday, the Bazetta Police Department was dispatched to an attempted vehicle fire at 2230 Perkins Jones Court.
