Young professionals group collects school supplies

Mahoning Valley Young Professionals, an affiliate of the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, helped local students start the school year prepared by collecting school supplies for McGuffey PK-8 in Warren during its Aug. 20 mixer at the Kensington Grille in Canfield. ATV driver leads Liberty police on chase

LIBERTY — Liberty police were taken on another chase Friday as an ATV driver managed to evade them. According to a police report, two officers were patrolling the areas of Belmont Avenue and Euclid Boulevard when one saw a person on an ATV cross the road and stop in front of a dumpster on the north side of a smoke shop. The report states the officer attempted to stop the driver for suspicious activity and operating an ATV on the road, and the driver stopped, waved and said he was driving home. The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley is inviting community members to apply for a spot on its board of directors. Applications are open through Sept. 18. Veteran, 90, served in Germany

WEST FARMINGTON — Andy H. Weaver said he has lived “a blessed life.” The 90 year-old grew up in an Amish community until he was 14. He has traveled extensively, with his first overseas trip as a United States Army soldier stationed in Germany.
