Warren aggravated burglary charge bound over to grand jury

WARREN — Unlike in most cases, Craig Sims, 19, of Warren did not waive his preliminary hearing Thursday in Warren Municipal Court. YSU hosting public speaker series tied to history

Youngstown State University’s History 4820 course, “History in the Headlines,” will host a public speaker series this fall examining major issues in the news and their effects on people in the Mahoning Valley. LOOP seeks snapshots of daily life

LOOP Youngstown is planning a second Day in the LOOP, a public art project capturing a day in the life of the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. This year’s event is scheduled on Sept. 25, and those living in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania are invited to document their surroundings that day through photography, video, writing or any other art form. Ryan Roberts, assistant professor of criminal justice at Youngstown State University, will share his research on gangs, prisons and applied intelligence with an international audience of government officials and public-security advisers during an October virtual course on organized crime and hybrid threats. LIBERTY — Liberty police issued a warrant through Girard Municipal Court for Adham Aburahma, 31, of Youngstown, on a charge of felonious assault Friday morning. According to a police report, an officer was called to the parking lot of a Trumbull Avenue bar for an incident in the Aldi parking lot. The officer spoke with the caller, who said she went into the store to report an illegally parked car to an employee, noting that it was parked near the store’s Goldie Road exit and it could have caused an accident. LIBERTY — A Warren man faces a charge after being accused of pointing what appeared to be a firearm at another driver Wednesday afternoon. Ludnir Wade, 43, pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated menacing in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler.
