Warren OKs one-year data center moratorium

WARREN — City Council unanimously approved a one-year moratorium on data centers Wednesday during the first meeting after returning to council chambers after the August break. It places a moratorium on data center projects larger than 1,000-square-feet and directs Mayor Doug Franklin to establish a Data Center Review Committee. Bazetta voices concerns over Brightspeed work permits

BAZETTA — Planned fiber-optic construction in the township has yet to receive required township permits, prompting officials to check whether contractors have already begun work. McDonald residents request moratorium for data centers

McDONALD — While the village’s planning/zoning commission and Solicitor Doug Ross have been working on zoning ordinances that would deal with regulations for data centers, village residents want council to put a moratorium on the facilities. BAZETTA — In July, township trustees gave permission for a wildlife exhibitor to participate in township park events. It wasn’t a unanimous decision, and at least one resident wants them to rethink it. Robyn Hineman of Northland Drive raised concerns during Tuesday’s trustees meeting about BobKats Lil Critters, questioning the potential liability of allowing members of the public to handle wild animals at township events. WARREN — Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Kovoor sentenced a Warren man to three years in prison Tuesday for drug trafficking offenses. Elijah E. Cofield, 29, Parkwood Drive NW, Warren, received prison and $5,000 in fines after he pleaded guilty June 29 to five counts trafficking a fentanyl-related compound, five counts of trafficking in cocaine and single counts of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, possession of cocaine and having weapons while under disability.
