Commissioners divided in adding $1.2M to Meadowbrook sewer project

WARREN — The Trumbull County Commissioners voted 2-1 to approve adding $1.2 million to the $30.91 million Meadowbrook Sanitary Sewer Projects currently being done due to the ground in the area where the new lines in Warren Township are located have been unexpectedly collapsing. The funds are being requested to pay for 22,164 cubic yards of limestone sand trench backfill at $62 per cubic yard. Rape charges filed against 3 men from northern Trumbull

Two men from rural state Route 534 north of the Mesopotamia Commons in Mesopotamia Township were in the Trumbull County jail Wednesday, set for arraignment today in Newton Falls Municipal Court on one count each of rape and four counts each of gross sexual imposition. Robert Detweiler, 26, and Rudy Detweiler, 22, of the same address, could get about 10 years in prison if convicted of the rape charge. Sollitto suggests term limits for Niles leadership

NILES — The city’s council president emphasized the value of change in local and federal government as to why he’s pushing for a citizen’s initiative on next year’s ballot. Warren man gets prison sentence for shooting wife

WARREN — Mickell J. Hall, 63, of Clermont Avenue NE, was sentenced to 8 to 10 1/2 years in prison Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on felonious assault with a gun specification and misdemeanor domestic violence in the Dec. 5 shooting of his wife at their home. After a standoff at a Niles motel, Hall was arrested. The gun used in the shooting was found by police in a clothes hamper at the Warren home. NOPEC to offer information for Newton gas aggregation ballot issue

NEWTON TOWNSHIP — With the township having placed a gas aggregation issue on the Nov. 3 general election ballot, officials are looking at having the Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC) provide public informational meetings and publicity on the issue at no cost to the township. NILES — A FBI spokesperson confirmed agency activity near Youngstown Warren Road on Wednesday. Published reports say the presence was at a medical park along the route that houses multiple medical facilities. The spokesperson said the FBI does not confirm nor deny the subject of any investigation or operation, but there is no threat to the public, and any arrest will eventually become public record if one is made.
