The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has awarded $752,904 in its third grant cycle of the year to support nonprofits meeting the needs of local residents.
With support from fund holders and the foundation's discretionary funds, $272,590 was awarded through the CFMV General Grant. Meanwhile, three of CFMV's supporting foundations accounted for more than half of funds disbursed this grant cycle: the Western Reserve Health Foundation awarded $167,500; the Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation awarded $162,500; and the William Swanston Charitable Fund awarded $125,000.
In addition to CFMV's quarterly grant opportunities, the Steel Valley Homes for Youth Fund awarded $25,314 to projects supporting young adults aging out of the foster care system or navigating other significant experiences and needs. Moab House received $20,000 for bathroom renovations at its site at the Campus of Care, and Ohio Urban Renaissance was awarded $5,314 for its Building Pathways to Independence Through OUR Prep Academy.
"The needs of our community are diverse, and so are the organizations working every day to address them," says CFMV President Casey Krell. "These grants reflect our commitment to supporting both immediate needs and long-term solutions, while giving local nonprofits the resources and flexibility to make a meaningful difference for the people they serve."
The next application deadline for the Community Foundation and its supporting foundations is Jan. 15. Organizations can see grant opportunities, deadlines and start their application at CFMV.org/grant-opportunities.
