14 fire departments battle blaze in Kinsman

1 min read

KINSMAN – Fourteen fire departments responded Tuesday afternoon to a large fire that destroyed two homes in the 8000 block of Main Street in Kinsman.

Fire Lt. Doug Elser, a former Kinsman fire chief, said crews were called out at 12:38 p.m. Tuesday, where one home on Main Street between the township greenspace and Church Street was on fire.

Elser said because of the wind, the fire spread to a second house right next to the first home, which are very close together. He said one home has been vacant for more than 10 years and the second one had apartments.

Elser said there were no injuries. Crews were able to prevent the fire from getting to any other homes.

Elser said the mutual aid was needed since tankers brought in water and additional manpower to battle the fire.

The mutual aid included many Trumbull County departments, as well as Ashtabula County and Mercer County in Pennsylvania.
