WARREN -- Austin L. Campbell, 24, of Warren, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to one count of gross sexual imposition, a low-level felony.
The charge stemmed from a Nov. 8, 2025, incident in Niles that involved a woman who claimed Campbell had sexual contact with her against her wishes.
Campbell will undergo a background investigation before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Ronald Rice sentences him later. Campbell could get up to 18 months in prison.
The conviction requires Campbell to be classified a Tier 1 sex offender, requiring him to register his address yearly for 15 years. He was released Tuesday from the Trumbull County jail on a personal recognizance bond and was told to have no contact with the victim.
Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Mike Burnett said the victim is in agreement with Campbell's charge being reduced and Campbell getting a "substantially lesser penalty than the original charge." Burnett said there have been lengthy discussions about the circumstances surrounding the case and the victim "feels this would be a reasonable resolution in the case."

Rice sentence Jones to six months in prison, which will be served in addition to the to the 25-years-to-life sentence Jones is serving for a murder conviction out of Franklin County.
