WARREN -- Election Day is less than two weeks away, and pre-general campaign finance reports filed with the Trumbull County Board of Elections reveal how candidates are faring.

The Committee to Elect Kristen Rock, a group supporting the Democrat competing against Republican candidate and Bazetta Trustee Michael Hovis for a Trumbull County Commissioners seat, reported $59,629 in total contributions.

The committee also reported $41,000 in outstanding loans, consisting from a $35,000 loan from Rock on Aug. 31 and a $6,000 loan on Sept. 30.

Rock reported $83,165 in expenditures, with advertising -- $32,006, $10,500 and $4,998 to Warren-based 2 Ticks and the Dog Productions, a video production service -- making up some of her campaign’s biggest expenditures.

Hovis’ campaign did not submit its financial reports in time for the filing deadline.

COMMON PLEAS COURT JUDGE

Chris Becker, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, reported $26,590 in contributions and $60,364 available, with the additional funds coming from an outstanding $35,322 loan.

Of his $53,642 in expenditures, $10,165 went toward City Printing for mailers and $7,812 to iHeart Media for radio commercials. Another $6,608 went toward the Tribune Chronicle for newspaper advertisements.

Mary Ellen Ditchey, Becker’s opponent who has served as Trumbull Common Common Pleas Court Judge Cynthia Westcott’s magistrate, reported $15,819 in total monetary contributions and $21,629 in total funds available.

Like her opponent, Ditchey paid for radio advertisements, in a $2,760 transaction with iHeart Media, but also spent $3,367 and $2,715 on signage and $3,065 on literature with Eastwood Quick Print.

AUDITOR

In the race for auditor, Republican candidate Mike Loychik reported $8,975 in total monetary contributions, with $5,453 available.

Campaign yard sign, supplies and fuel made up the bulk of Loychik’s $3,927 in expenditures, with $750 going to Ace Graphics.

Democratic candidate Ed Stredney reported $7,083 in total monetary contributions, with $7,683 available, but $502 left to use.

A bulk of Stredney’s spending went toward yard signs, in a $2,594 transaction with Capital Promotions July 22.
