WARREN -- Kevin L. Streeter, 37, of North Street was charged in Warren Municipal Court on five misdemeanors after police were called to a Parkman Road store and found him with hundreds of dollars in stolen goods from another store.
He is scheduled for arraignments Wednesday on two first-degree misdemeanor charges of petty theft and one of falsification and two low-level misdemeanors of possessing drug paraphernalia and criminal trespassing.
Warren police were called to a store in the Trumbull Plaza at 7 p.m. Sunday for a man in who had been caught stealing in the past.
When officers arrived, store employees said the man had just gone next door to another store and had been told multiple times he could not come back into the first store.
Officers went next door and found Streeter in the back of the store. An officer said he could "plainly see" that Streeter was concealing multiple items in the front of his jacket. The condensation from something cold was showing through the jacket pocket, the report states.
Streeter gave a false first name and birthdate, but he was later identified as Kevin L. Streeter, A dispatcher indicated that Streeter had three capiases, meaning an order from a judge for his arrest, in Warren Municipal Court.
When officers searched Streeter, they found three frozen food items costing a total of $8. And they found that Streeter was wearing three Carhartt jackets, three Carhartt baseball caps and had one folding knife, all confirmed to have been stolen from the earlier store. All had price tags on them. The store manager said the items totaled $420.
An officer also collected a glass crack pipe with residue in it from Streeter's pants pocket, along with a hypodermic syringe, the report states. The pipe was taken into evidence, and the syringe was disposed of in a "sharps container."
The merchandise was returned to the stores, and Streeter was taken to the Trumbull County jail. Streeter refused to be arraigned Monday and is now set to be arraigned today.
In addition to the new charges, he is set for arraignment today on a petty theft charge filed July 1 and a criminal trespass charge filed June 16. Warren Municipal Court judges issued capiases for Streeter in those cases when he failed to appear for his arraignments.
Streeter has an extensive criminal record in Warren Municipal Court dating back to 2007, when he was convicted of resisting arrest.
