WHAT: Educational Service Center board meeting Sept. 21
PRESENT: Tom Krispinsky, Carol Young, Deborah Patchin, Denise Domhoff and Laura Rubesich
The board:
• Approved the purchase of a van for $45,566 from Klaben Ford Lincoln of Warren for courier service for transporting items to different buildings served by the center.
• Named Young as delegate and Rubesich as alternate to the Ohio School Boards Association conference in November.
• Approved an agreement with Southeast Local Schools for preschool services through July 2027.
• Approved an agreement with Critical Ops LLC to host a family fly zone at the drone racing league event set April 17.
• Approved an agreement with AMI: Advanced Methods in Innovation for a STEAM program.
• Approved an agreement with Warren City Schools to provide Career Navigator services for the 2026-27 school year and hired Steven Beshara as a career navigator on a one-year contract of 184 days.
• Hired Melissa Miller as a special education supervisor on an as needed basis for up to 90 days.
McDonald
WHAT: Village council meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Sean Schmidt, Kerry Reckard, Brian Bosheff, Marty Puckett, Joe Sanson, John Metzinger and Mayor Ray Lewis
Council:
• Heard from Sanson about the need for a committee to be formed with residents to promote the need for passage of a 4.5-mill, safety forces levy on the November ballot. He said informational fliers will be available at a table at upcoming McDonald High School football games.
• Heard from police Chief Ryan Ronghi the department used the Flock license plate reader camera system on a trial basis and has opted not to purchase them. He said there has not been a lot of use for them in smaller communities.
• Heard from Ronghi because the police department is shortstaffed with one officer leaving for the Liberty Police Department and another off for health reasons, the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office will provide coverage at the Oktoberfest 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 10.
• Heard from Village Administrator Tom Domitrovich about the village seeking $75,000 in Ohio Public Work Commission funds for road improvements, including Sixth Street, in 2027.
• Heard from the mayor, who promoted fire Lt. Richard Rider to captain. Rider started with the fire department as a firefighter/paramedic.
• Approved use of the area by the Ramsay Pavilion at the park for the annual ram roast Oct. 22 prior to the McDonald-Mineral Ridge football game.
• Set trick or treat 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
