WHAT: Board of education meeting Aug. 26
PRESENT: Terry Kelly, Elizabeth Dunn, Megan Gibbs, Steve Gilanyi and LeeAnn Westenfelder
The board:
• Approved Tabitha Hornof as a kindergarten teacher and Benjamin Smith as a fourth-grade math/science teacher.
• Approved as field maintenance agreement with the Chalker High School football coaches who will help take care of the fields they use. A similar agreement is in place for the baseball fields.
• Approved a weapons policy that while the district does not allow any staff to have weapons on them, the district hired a school resource officer who has a weapon. The district previously chose not to have a policy in place for allowing staff to carry weapons. School officials said the SRO previously worked for the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office but the agreement is not with the sheriff's office, but with the individual person.
• Approved the use of the Chalker Building by the Trust Committee for Saturday for Homecoming pictures, Oct. 24 for storytime and open house, Dec. 11 for cookie contest and Dec. 12 for Christmas open house and storytime.
