Seeking breast cancer survivors
The Tribune Chronicle plans to honor breast cancer survivors during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.
The idea is to put a human face on this disease, to help those diagnosed by hearing voices of those who have experienced the journey, and to spotlight therapies and support that helped. We also will honor the memories of those who lost their battle.
To share your story, or to honor someone and tell how they inspired you during their struggles and triumph with breast cancer, send a brief description to Metro Editor Marly Reichert at mreichert@tribtoday.com or by mail to 240 Franklin St. SE, Warren, OH 44483. Include contact information.
Reporters will contact a few of the people suggested to be profiled in the Tribune Chronicle throughout October.
The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Thursday.
Nominations for Twenty Under 20
WARREN -- The Tribune Chronicle is seeking nominations for its 14th annual Twenty Under 20 program.
The newspaper will recognize 20 high-achieving individuals younger than 20 for their leadership skills through volunteerism, extracurricular activities and academic achievements. Nominees need to be a resident of Trumbull County, at least a freshman in high school and no older than 19 as of Dec. 1.
Nomination forms can be acquired at local high school guidance offices or by contacting community events coordinator Sue Shafer at sshafer@tribtoday.com or 330-841-1696.
Along with the form, applicants are permitted to attach up to five supporting documents, such as high school transcripts. A narrative about how they have shown leadership through community service, academic achievement and extracurricular activities should be included.

Senior Expo set Oct. 6 in Liberty
LIBERTY -- The seventh annual Boomers and Beyond Senior Expo will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Metroplex Expo Center on Belmont Avenue.
The free expo, which is hosted by the Tribune Chronicle and The Vindicator, will feature numerous vendors who will provide information about senior-friendly options, health insurance, podiatry, assisted living, memory care and support, veteran benefits, nursing care, active senior services, geriatric physicians, essential oils and more.
There also will be health screenings and door prizes.
Portion of I-680 southbound to close
As part of the ongoing pavement replacement project on Interstate 680, I-680 southbound will be closed from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for bridge construction.
The detour will be state Route 193 to U.S. Route 422 to U.S. Route 62.
