NORTH BLOOMFIELD -- The Bloomfield-Mespo Local School District showed significant growth on the 2025-26 state report card, earning the largest year-to-year improvement in overall rating among Trumbull County school districts.
The district's overall rating increased from 2.5 stars in 2024-25 to 4 stars in 2025-26. Growth also was demonstrated at both district buildings, with Bloomfield High School increasing from 3 stars to 3.5 stars, and Mesopotamia Elementary School increasing from 2.5 stars to 3 stars.
Several individual report card components also showed meaningful improvement, according to a news release from the district. At the district level, Bloomfield-Mespo earned 5 stars in Progress and 4 stars in College, Career, Workforce and Military Readiness. The district also improved in Gap Closing and Graduation.
"These results reflect the combined efforts of the entire Cardinal family. Students continued to work hard and represent their schools with pride. Teachers and staff demonstrated their commitment to helping every student succeed, while parents and community members continued to provide valuable support to the district," Kevin Hogue, high school and middle school principal, stated in the release.
He said the district recognizes that report card ratings represent only one measure of school success.
"However, this improvement reflects the dedication of students, teachers, support staff, administrators, families and community members throughout Bloomfield-Mespo," Hogue added. "Every lesson taught, assignment completed, encouraging word spoken and helping hand offered contributed to this growth."
He said Bloomfield-Mespo Local Schools is proud of the progress that has been made while recognizing that the work of continuous improvement is never finished.
"The district will continue building upon this progress by providing strong instruction and maintaining a learning environment where students are known, supported and encouraged to succeed," the release states.
