NILES -- No charges were filed following a weekend disturbance between neighbors, where one person said a gun was involved.
According to a police report, officers were called to an Evans Street residence for a dispute between the resident and their neighbor on West Street, and the Evans Street caller said a woman at the residence had gone into the house and grabbed a gun.
The report states there were approximately 20 people between the two houses yelling at each other when the officer arrived.
The officer spoke with the West Street individuals first, and a woman said she went over to visit her aunt and uncle when she saw an argument between a woman and man in the Evans residence's front yard, adding that she saw the man hit the woman, the report states.
The report states that the woman at one point heard one of the people say they were going to get a gun and shoot up the place -- leading her to go inside and grab a handgun.
The woman said one of the Evans Street residents came out of the front door with what she considered an Uzi, adding that she kept her own gun at her side and that she never raised or pointed it at anyone. She admitted putting a magazine in the gun, but she said she never racked a round into the chamber, the report states.
The Evans street residents told an opposite story, with all four present saying the neighbor came out of the house pointing a gun at them, and that they heard a sound coming from the gun, which to them sounded like the slide was being racked, and a round was being chambered.
All four individuals declined to write a witness statement, which resulted in no charges being filed.
The woman showed the officer a video of a person walking out with an unknown item in their hand, but due to the video quality, officers could not determine what was in the subject's hand.
