18-year-old indicted in officer-related shooting

WARREN -- An 18-year-old Warren man has been charged after shooting at two police officers in May.

D'Andre Douglas of Warren was indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury Thursday on two counts of first-degree attempted murder, two-second degree felony counts of felonious assault with three-year firearm specifications and fourth-degree felony charges of carrying concealed weapons and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

The charges stem from a May 15 officer-involved shooting at a dead-end corner of Charles Avenue SE in Warren. A portion of the street was blocked off with crime-scene tape after the incident.

A police captain said no officers were injured and two people were transported to the hospital, but he refused to answer any more questions at the time.

The indictment accuses Douglas of having a firearm on or about his person or under his control while committing the attempted murder felonies, stating that he displayed, brandished and indicated he possessed the firearm, or used it to commit the offense.

Douglas is also accused of knowingly carrying or concealing a handgun.

The indictment identifies the victims as officers in the felonious assault and attempted murder charges' separate counts.

Court records show Douglas's case was bound over from the court's juvenile division Friday, with an arraignment set for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 25 in Judge Ronald Rice's court.
