WHAT: Board of Education July meeting
PRESENT: Angela Campana, Mark Harper, Jennifer Nicholas, Taylor Pease and Danielle Scherer Scott.
The board:
• Accepted the resignations of school secretary Rachael Derr, effective July 1, and bus driver Bob Czako, effective Aug. 1.
• Hired Jeffrey Solarz and Joseph Gillespie as bus drivers. Solarz will be paid the starting rate of $19.42 per hour; Gillespie, who was hired at step 3 on the contract schedule, will be paid $21.45 per hour.
• Approved an athletic training services agreement with Peak Performance for the 2026-27 school year.
• Approved agreements with NRG Business Marketing Inc. for natural gas purchasing through Aug. 31, 2029.
• Set instructional and technology fees for the 2026-27 school year.
• Approved the second reading of a resolution to renew the district's existing 1-mill permanent improvement levy.
• Approved complimentary passes for district staff, board members and Lakeview residents age 65 and older for regular-season athletic events during the 2026-27 school year.
• Announced a series of workshops will be offered in August, October, December, February, April and June. The workshops will provide information on how school funding works in Ohio, and will be open to the public. Dates and times for the sessions will be announced on the district website, newsletters and social media.
