Dog found dead in Warren yard

WARREN — The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project’s Humane Division, alongside animal control for Warren and the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a call of a chained-up dog in distress at a residence on Central Parkway SE.

A posting on the Healthy Hearts and Paws social media site said the callers stated the dog was pacing frantically in temperatures of 98 degrees. When crews arrived, the dog was found lying on its side and unresponsive.

Jason Cooke, director of Healthy Hearts and Paws, said a check of the dog’s internal temperature at the time was over 109 degrees. He said the dog had no access to shelter, shade or water and was pronounced dead at the scene. Criminal charges are expected to be filed pending completion of an investigation, Cooke said.

Starting at $3.85/week.
