WARREN -- A Leavittsburg man was sentenced Tuesday to two-to-three-years in prison in a child pornography case.
Allan Patchin, 36, of Burwell Road, also was declared a Tier 2 sex offender by Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Kovoor, meaning he will have to register his address with the local sheriff every six months for 25 years after he is released from prison.
Patchin pleaded guilty May 18 to six counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance and four counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, all second-degree felonies.
The case involved videos depicting sex acts by children as young as 4 or 5, which were found on Patchin's electronic devices in April 2025 following an investigation by the Trumbull County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, according to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office.
He could have gotten up to seven years in prison for the convictions, the prosecutor's office said.
DRUG CASE
In a separate hearing before Kovoor, Mark E. Smith, 34, of West Seneca, New York, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of attempting to corrupt another with drugs, possession of cocaine, providing intoxicating liquor to an underage person and illegal use/possession of drug paraphernalia.
The case involved a 15-year-old girl victim who Smith had groomed by paying her with gifts, drugs and alcohol after meeting her online, according to the prosecutor's office.
The victim, in a lengthy prepared statement read to the court on Tuesday, talked about how she was emotionally manipulated by Smith while she was dealing with her mother's terminal illness. The gifts included an iPhone and Apple watch that helped Smith keep track of the teenager without the knowledge of her parents.
