WARREN -- The Warren Arbor Commission will host a public meeting Thursday to answer residents' tree-related questions and celebrate the city's first Tree City USA award.
The meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. June 11 at the Warren Municipal Building.
Residents can learn about proper tree care, public tree maintenance responsibilities and priorities for planting and upkeep.
The event is part of ongoing efforts to expand and improve the city's urban tree canopy. The volunteer Arbor Commission also advises the Mahoning Valley TreeCorps program, which has planted more than 500 shade trees in Warren since 2024 as part of a larger goal of 5,500 trees across the region.
"When stewarded well, the urban tree canopy is invaluable to our community," said Lydia Lynch, Health and Wellness Coordinator for Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership and advisor to the Arbor Commission. "They improve air quality, provide shade, and enhance the beauty of our public spaces."
