By Staff report 2 min read

BRACEVILLE -- Township officials gathered last week to hear from the new head of the Ohio Township Association who addressed issues of concern for local communities.

Kyle Brooks, the new executive director of the association, spent a day meeting with trustees and other officials from Braceville, Bristol, Champion, Bazetta and Newton townships.

"I wanted to gather information on what issues are affecting the townships in Trumbull County to see what we can do at the state level to help them. If there are any main issues, we can present that to the state legislators," he said.

Brooks started as executive director two months ago and was previously director of governmental affairs. He said in the past two months, he has traveled across the state to hear from officials. He said property taxes, ballot issues and small government funding are issues that are of concern to many communities.

Dennis Kuchta, a Braceville trustee and president of the Trumbull Township Association, said when he knew Brooks was going to be the guest speaker at the trustee association meeting, he invited officials from the other communities so they could provide input.

Kuchta said property tax is one of the main issues that all communities are concerned about and the impact on their services provided to the community.
