TCESC board cuts position
NILES — Because of decreased student enrollment in the carpentry apprenticeship program, the Trumbull County Educational Service Center governing board at its June meeting approved a reduction in force of an administrative position.
The board cut an assistant coordinator of the vocational apprenticeship program effective July 31.
Fiscal Officer Stacy Foster said the cut will save the center $125,000. Classes included carpentry programs for students offered at the Lordstown school campus.
In other action at the June 1 meeting, the board:
• Approved a contract with Pennsylvania Western University to place speech language pathologist students for field based experience and approved a contract with Youngstown State University for placement of school psychologist interns.
• Hired Carrie Schlatt as curriculum and instruction supervisor effective Aug. 1 to replace Denise Holloway, who resigned from the position effective July 31.
• Accepted the retirement resignations of Traci Naylor, instructor of students with multiple disabilities, effective May 31; retirement of William Bosheff as curriculum and instruction supervisor for retirement effective July 1; and the retirement of Julie Double, physical therapist, effective July 31.
• Approved an agreement with Bloomfield-Mespo schools for the career navigator program to help prepare students for future careers. Several other school districts such as Bristol, Niles and LaBrae also have signed up for the program.
