WHAT: Board of education meeting May 28

PRESENT: Vincent Ragozine, Tammy King, Joe Castor, Scott Strain and Zachary Steiner

The board:

• Approved Deidre Schimpf as transportation director on a two-year contract; William Bogun as principal at the intermediate school on a two-year contract; Sophia Strollo as school psychologist intern on a one-year contract; Elizabeth Drennen as administrative assistant to the superintendent on a two-year contract; and Nick Cochran as athletics/activities director on a two-year contract.

• Hired Lisa Hall as nurse and Gina Leeworthy as clerk for St. Rose School.

• Approved the Success By Six summer program July 6 to 23 at Prospect Elementary School with funds provided by the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley. Superintendent Bryan O’Hara said the program is in its 10th year in Girard, with 45 children scheduled to attend.
