WHAT: Board of education meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: Don Mickel, Jared Bilas, Brooke Vondrasek, Kristina Stephens and Candy Bemus
The board:
• Approved an amended contract with Superintendent Christopher Dray effective Aug. 1 at $110,572 for the 2026-27 school year.
• Approved a three-year contract extension with Treasurer Megan Titus from Aug. 1, 2027 to July 31, 2030. Titus was previously granted a 2.5-year contract through July 2027 at $75,600 annually.
• Approved an agreement with Cadence Care Network to provide the school district with social workers and behavioral support for students at $24,000. The district will pay an hourly rate for services not covered by Medicaid not to exceed $15,000 in total.
• Tabled to the August meeting an agreement with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office for a school resource officer for the 2026-27 school year. The district has had an SRO from the sheriff’s department for the past several years.
• Hired Sydney Grishabar as high school English teacher at $39,548 and Brooke Pawlowski as elementary intervention specialist at $45,480.
• Entered into an annual agreement with the Bristol Public Library at $6,000 to provide services for the students and staff. The library is located next to the school complex.
• Approved the high school girls basketball team trip to Indiana to play at the Hoosier Gym Jan. 14 to 16.
• Received a $1,000 donation from the American Red Cross for a high school biomedical scholarship award.
• Canceled the July meeting.
