WHAT: Village council meeting June 3
PRESENT: Julie Stimpert, Brian Kropp, Brian Axiotis, Bob Burke, Kevin Rufener and Mayor David Hanson
Council:
• Entered into a three-year agreement with Ohio Valley Waste, Recycling and Disposal Inc. for collection of residential and commercial solid waste and recycling effective Aug. 1. Costs are $18.76 per month for a 96-gallon mobile cart and mobile recycling cart, $30 per month for 10 bags in lieu of cart service and $2.45 per month for additional recycling carts.
• Entered into a lease purchase agreement with StateWide Ford of Van Wert for a 2026 Ford Utility Interceptor vehicle for the police department at cost not to exceed $61,833 with an annual lease/purchase payment of $17,885. Resident Julie Lemon said the cruiser is expensive, noting the department can’t keep people working there.
• Announced a weekly farmers market will take place 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays starting June 23 at Four Corners Park off Broad Street.

WHAT: Township trustees meeting June 1
PRESENT: Jeff Davis, Lynn Michalec and Todd Williams
Trustees:
• Accepted the resignation of Jeremy Rodgers as a police officer.
• Approved a conditional use permit for the Church at Ridge and state Route 305 for a woman’s boutique.
• Approved a $240 payment for MARCS radios.
• Approved a $371 payment to the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office for cold patch.

WHAT: City council meeting June 3
PRESENT: Doug Sollitto, Jimmy Julian, Michael Lastic, Ed Stredney, Todd Weddell, Aaron Johnstone, James Sheely and Frank Leskovec
Council:
• Held second reading for an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of funds from the unappropriated general fund to the general fund miscellaneous account for a city-funded business grant approved by the Community Improvement Corporation of Niles for Higg’s Hot Rods.
• Passed an ordinance approving a “then and now” payment request for Concrete Couture Co. for the repair of an emergency water main break.
• Passed an ordinance authorizing the disposal of equipment from the IT department to be sold by internet auction on GovDeals.
• Passed a resolution adopting the “Residential Anti-Displacement and Relocation Assistance Plan.”
• Passed a resolution amending Resolution No. 15-26 authorizing the submission of grant applications for FY 2026/2027 grants under the CDBG Community Development Allocation and Critical Infrastructure programs.
• Passed an ordinance authorizing the appropriation of funds from miscellaneous unappropriated funds for equipment rental.
• Passed a resolution approving the assignment of a portion of the city of Niles’ interest in the Fremont Energy Center Power Sales Contract with American Municipal Power, Inc. to the city of Westerville.
