Hubbard will reveal items from 1976 time capsule
HUBBARD — The community is invited to an opening ceremony of a time capsule that was buried for America’s bicentennial in 1976 at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hubbard Public Library, 436 W. Liberty St.
The time capsule, was opened earlier this week so officials could determine the condition of the items inside, so Saturday’s ceremony will be an unveiling of the capsule’s contents. Mayor Ben Kyle, Library Trustee William Tucciarone, and opening committee member Jay Hall will share remarks about Hubbard’s history, the significance of the bicentennial celebration in 1976, and the story behind the time capsule project.
The items recovered from the time capsule will be displayed throughout the library through the end of August, allowing for the public to see what was in the capsule from 50 years ago.
The opening is taking place as part of America250 events.
