Healthy Hearts and Paws out of space

WARREN — Following the addition of more dogs and cats this weekend, officials with the Healthy Hearts and Paws Project said they have no more space for animals.

Jason Cooke, director of Healthy Hearts and Paws, posted that the complex in Warren took in one dog and over a dozen cats recently, putting the total number of animals taken in in June to 57 dogs and more than 34 cats.

Cooke said year-to-date total are 439 dogs and more than 100 cats at the complex.

“With another stray dog brought in today and more cats being removed from a residence in Masury, we have no choice but to close intake for dogs and cats until some dogs and cats either get redeemed, fostered or adopted, as there currently is nowhere to house any animals,” Cooke said in a posted statement.

He said he is not surprised that the animal crisis in Trumbull County continues to spiral out of control with no end in sight.

Starting at $3.85/week.
