Felonious assault charges dismissed
WARREN — A man and a woman who were taken into custody by Warren police Tuesday have had charges against them dismissed in connection to a shooting Tuesday at the corner of Parkman Road and Northfield Avenue.
Warren Municipal Court records indicate second-degree felonious assault charges were dismissed against Jordan Coleman, 20, of Warren and Lily Ansel, 18, of Niles when they were arraigned this week in court in front of Judge Natasha Natale.
The two were taken into custody by Warren police and placed in Trumbull County jail on Tuesday but with Warren police continuing their investigation into the shooting the charges were dismissed Wednesday in court.
A previously scheduled court hearing for Coleman and Ansel on June 24 has also been canceled, according to court records.
The police department had been investigating the shooting after responding to calls of shots being fired in that area at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Reports indicate as officers arrived at the scene they were advised of a 21-year old gunshot victim at St. Joseph’s Warren Hospital with a traumatic injury.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
Police said that this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to reach out to Detective Abigail Krafcik at 330-841-2712 or the CID Anonymous Tip Line at 330-841-2914.
