Engler: Survey shows satisfaction with Family Court proceedings

WARREN — The Juvenile and Family Court Division of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on Friday shared the latest results of a post case satisfaction survey implemented at the direction of Judge David Engler.

“This initiative, which emails surveys to individuals after their divorce or dissolution cases are completed, reflects the court’s commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous improvement. By directly inviting anonymous feedback from those it serves, the court is taking a proactive step that remains uncommon among courts in Ohio,” a news release from Engler states.

Early responses demonstrate strong public confidence in the court’s operations. Overall, 23.3% of those emailed responded, which is higher than the average of 15% for court operated surveys. From the anonymous surveys submitted, 85% were satisfied with the experience in Trumbull County Family Court, which is much higher than the normal for email surveys. From that number, 57.1% were extremely satisfied. Additionally, 71.1% of respondents reported being at least somewhat satisfied with the amount of time it took to resolve their case, underscoring the court’s focus on timely case management, the release states.

Feedback regarding court personnel was especially positive, with 86% of the anonymous responses stating they were satisfied, and every participant reported that the judges’ and magistrates’ explanations of orders and decisions were very clear.

“These results reflect the court’s dedication to fair and efficient outcomes, but also to ensure that individuals understand the decisions that impact their families,” Engler said. “These results indicate a job well done by our entire staff, including our magistrates, bailiffs and clerks.”

The judge emphasized that the survey is intended to both recognize strengths and identify opportunities for improvement. He thanked the entire team at Trumbull County Family Court for treating people with kindness.

“The court will continue to gather and review all responses as part of its ongoing commitment to providing a process that is understandable, timely and respectful to all who appear before it,” Engler stated in the release.
