Consuelo ‘Connie’ Kent DeGood 1935-2026

WARREN — Consuelo “Connie” Kent DeGood, a longtime resident of Warren, passed away peacefully Friday, June 12, 2026.

She was born Oct. 28, 1935, in Allen Center, to Lena Pricer and Harold Kent.

Connie is survived by James Douglas DeGood, her son with the late James M. DeGood; her granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth DeGood; grandsons, James Andrew Pytlik (Claire) and Matthew Theodore Pytlik (Kelsey); as well as many close nieces and nephews and dear friends. Her legacy lives on in her five great-grandsons, Addison (17), Cooper (12), Jack (7), Theo (6) and Desmond (4).

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Teresa “Terri” DeGood Pytlik, and her elder siblings, Marjorie Spain, Wanetta Hastings and William “Bill” Kent.

Raised on a farm in Allen Center, Connie graduated from Marysville High School in 1953 and went on to attend The Ohio State University. Later, as a single woman in her 40s in the 1970s, she attended the New York School of Interior Design in Manhattan, where she earned a Certificate of Interior Design. It was the start of a long and vibrant design career that would span six decades. Connie first worked with Welcome Wagon International before founding her own business, Connie DeGood Interiors, where she transformed homes and commercial spaces for clients across the country.

To know Connie was to be surrounded by beauty. Whether it was morning coffee and muffins or one of her famed Christmas parties, Connie brought elegance and panache to all she touched. She was an expert gardener, opinionated baker, astute antique collector, unwavering Buckeyes fan and impactful community member.

In her retirement, Connie departed Chagrin Falls for Upper Arlington, eventually coming full circle back to Marysville. Connie’s final few years were spent in Waynesville, North Carolina, near her son Doug’s home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, leading the fight against the disease her daughter, Terri, suffered with for many years. To contribute, please visit bit.ly/conniedegood.

A service and celebration of life with family and close friends will take place in fall 2026 in Allen Center. More details will follow.
