WHAT: Board of education meeting May 11
PRESENT: Russell Sewell, Tim Gibson, Karen Ancell, Bradley Gamlin and Julia Shutt
The board:
• Approved a renewal agreement with the Nutrition Group Inc. for cafeteria operations and management services for year five with a management fee of $13,857 and administration fee at $16,629. Superintendent Anthony Calderone said all district students receive free breakfast and lunch.
• Approved the National Scholastic Awards field trip to New York City June 9 to 11. High School senior Truly Jacobs has her artwork for the second year in a row at the state governor’s show at the Wright Center in Columbus. Sophomore Rhylin Barker earned a Silver Key award at the national Scholastic Art Awards competition in New York City for mixed media. Teacher Katie Kistler was also recognized as an outstanding art educator.
• Approved Kelly Huscroft as principal at LaBrae Intermediate School on a three-year contract effective Aug. 1.
• Named John Wolford as athletic director effective Aug. 1.
• Approved Sophia D’Alesio and Destiny Johnson at $3,500 for the summer kindergarten readiness program “Bounce into Bascom.”
• Approved Caroline Guesman as secretary to the superintendent/EMIS coordinator on a two-year contract.
• Accepted the resignation of Chad Kiser as head boys basketball coach and resignation of Miranda Gerchak as instrumental music teacher.
• Plan to have a dedication for the new band shelter in late summer.
