Niles man facing felonious assault, kidnapping charges
NILES — A Niles man who has been held without bond after being accused of holding a woman against her will is set to appear back in Niles Municipal Court Wednesday.
Vincent Lin, 20, pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and domestic violence during a Tuesday morning arraignment. He also faces charges of strangulation and felonious assault.
According to a police report, officers were called to a Sunny Estates Drive residence for a domestic incident, and met with a woman who was waiting outside for them.
The woman said her boyfriend, Lin, had been holding her against her will in his bedroom, the report states, and when she attempted to leave, he struck her in the head with a bipedal rifle.
The woman told officers that Lin punched her in the face and arms and kicked her in the legs throughout the time with him and also stranged her with both hands, the report states.
The report states she described the strangulation as harsh enough to make her cough blood, adding that she had been living with Lin and his family for nearly a month.
The report states the woman had a bloody laceration on top of her head, where she pointed she was struck with the firearm, and she was looked over by paramedics.
Officers recovered several firearms from Lin’s room, one of which was a 3D-printed nonregistered device listed in the report as a Tizmo Concepts 3D Printed AR-15. The device is to be examined by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), according to the police report.
