Woman in custody after city shooting

WARREN — A woman is in custody after a man was shot Friday morning at a home on the southwest side of Warren, according to a police department news release.

City police responded to reports of a shooting just before noon and found a man with three gunshot wounds — two in the chest and one to the back of the head — the release states.

The release states that officers were dispatched at 11:48 a.m. to the 1300 block of Highland Avenue SW in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they say they located a gunshot victim who was transported to a local hospital for treatment of what police classified as a serious injury.

Brianna Nichols, 24, was arrested on a charge of felonious assault and is set for arraignment Monday in Warren Municipal Court, jail records show.

Police said Nichols told them her boyfriend was “coming after her,” so she shot him. Nichols previously faced charges of menacing by stalking, criminal damaging and aggravated menacing, as well as felonious assault, court records show.

The investigation remains ongoing and police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Sgt. Mike Altiere at 330-841-2749.
