Woman dies in head-on crash in Warren

WARREN — A woman involved in a head-on crash Monday in Warren has died, according to fire officials.

Fire Chief Ken Nussle said fire crews from Warren and Howland and Warren police responded at 10:26 a.m. Monday to a head-on crash on East Market Street at Bonnie Brae Avenue NE by the former Insight Trumbull Medical Center.

Nussle said one vehicle had two occupants and the other had adults and two juveniles, including an infant.

Fire crews had to remove vehicle doors to get to the occupants. Nussle said a woman in her 30s was taken to a local hospital and then to a hospital in Akron, where she died of her injuries.

The name of the victim has not been released. Nussle said he did not have information on the conditions of four others injured in the crash.

Nussle said the cause of the crash is being investigated, but witnesses at the scene told first responders that one vehicle went left of center and collided head-on with the other.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage. Traffic was rerouted as first responders worked the scene.
