WHAT: Township trustees meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Doug Emerine, Tom Jeffers and Rick York

Trustees:

• Were informed there was interest from residents in forming a committee to plan for the township’s bicentennial in 2031.

• Received their first payment of $57 from the adult use cannabis revenue, with the business to open on state Route 45.

• Were informed the township zoning commission will look at data centers for the zoning codes at 6 p.m. Wednesday and April 22. The county planning commission has been putting together information on data centers.

• Announced storm cleanup collection will take place for four weeks starting April 13 with items to be placed at curbside for pickup.

• Thanked police and fire personnel for helping with storm damage issues following recent heavy rainstorms. Trees and wires were reported down on Mahoning Avenue and other streets. There was also flooding on Aspen Drive and surrounding areas.

• Set a scrap tire collection for 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 9 by township garage.

• Heard from police Chief Larry Skaggs of the need for people to lock their vehicles as there have been many vehicle break-ins recently.

• Heard from fire Chief Tom Dempsey smoke detectors are available from the American Red Cross at the fire department.

• Announced a Great Treasure Hunt road show will be June 2 to 4 at the township administration building.

• Approved a $50,000 advance from the general fund to the police fund to enable payroll and payment of operating expenses.

• Announced a gas aggregation program with Energy Harbor at $4.919 per mcf for 36 months.
