WARREN — Bond was set at $2 million Thursday afternoon when Nazeer S. Buckley, 29, was arraigned in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on two counts of aggravated murder and one count of felonious assault in Sunday’s stabbing death of Billy Anderson, 20, at an apartment on South Feederlee Drive SE.
Buckley was arrested, charged and booked into the Trumbull County jail early Monday following Anderson’s death. Warren police responded to a domestic violence call at the residence about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers found Anderson with multiple stab wounds. He was transported to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Warren Police Department.
Defense attorney Alexander Keane entered a not guilty plea for Buckley on Thursday and requested a bond of $150,000, saying Buckley is a “lifelong resident of Warren. He has extensive family ties in the area.” Keane suggested a $150,000 bond.
But Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Becker said “as far as I know Mr. Buckley doesn’t own property. He doesn’t have a job as far as I know. Two counts in this case are aggravated murder that carry life sentences, the potential of life without parole.”
Becker said, “I think $150,000 is a ridiculously low bond,” Becker said. He asked for Buckley to be held on a $2 million bond “because of the seriousness of the charges and overwhelming evidence. He did provide a statement to the officers. So we think there is ample evidence against him.”
Kovoor said she agreed with Becker because of the aggravated murder charges and felonious assault. She told Keane he could file for a bond modification with Judge Cynthia Wescott later. She will preside over the case. Buckley’s first hearing will be May 6, Becker said.
Anderson’s obituary stated that Anderson lived in Warren and was born in Warren and “will be remembered as a fun-loving young man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to others.” Family members said Thursday he worked at a Niles extrusions factory.
Anderson’s mother and grandmother and other family members attended the arraignment. Afterward, they said Anderson lived in the apartment where he suffered the fatal wound but went there that night to confront a woman Anderson was seeing over her relationship with Buckley.
“He was a sweet kid,” his grandmother, Pam Headley said. “I just want justice for my son,” Anderson’s mother, Amy Loudermilt said. “He was a sweet, loving kid. He didn’t deserve this.”
Anderson’s death was the fourth homicide of the year in Warren with the third one being the shooting death of Damien M. Williams, 25, on School Street NW on March 31. Serroyan Jubar Couto, 19, has been charged in that homicide. Warren had seven homicides in 2025.
