Johnson named to Republican National Committee
The Ohio Republican Party State Central Committee elected Columbiana County GOP Chairman Dave Johnson as the state’s Republican National Committee male member.
Johnson replaces Jim Dicke, who held the position since 2015 and said in February he was leaving the post.
Johnson said: “It’s an honor to be chosen by my fellow committee members to represent Ohio on the national stage. I want to thank Jim Dicke for his years of service and I’m ready to get to work enduring Ohio continues to have a strong voice within the Republican National committee.”
Johnson of Salem is the longtime chairman of the Columbiana County Republican Party and one of the most influential members of the party in the state. Johnson has been a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance.
The RNC oversees the party’s fundraising, strategy coordination and the presidential nominating process.
Johnson is part of the three-person Ohio delegation to the RNC, which includes Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou and state Sen. Jane Timken, the national committeewoman and a former state party chairwoman.
Triantafilou said: “Dave Johnson has been one of the most dedicated county chairmen in Ohio for years. He knows what it takes to build a winning party from the ground up and he’ll bring that same energy to the Republican National Committee Ohio is in great hands.”
Timken said she looks forward to working with Johnson on the RNC.
Timken said: “Dave knows Ohio, especially the Mahoning Valley,. He was successful in championing the forgotten men and women and bringing them to the Republican Party. Together, we’ll make sure Ohio’s priorities are front and center nationally.”
