WHAT: Trumbull Career & Technical Center board of education meeting Thursday

The board:

• Approved an agreement with Pierce Farms to rent 46 acres of land between the center and state Route 82 for harvesting. The agreement begins this spring for one year at $500 to be paid before planting. Officials said the agreement has been approved for many years.

• Heard from Treasurer Cody Holecko that he is watching district funds just as many home school districts are because of the state property tax reform legislation, which will affect schools and townships. He said with less millage, the career center would lose $1.2 million. Holecko said funds were already approved and in place for the roof replacement project being done in phases through 2027.

• Accepted the retirement of Frank Bindas, intervention specialist, effective June 1 after 11 years of service.

• Approved various field trips for student competitions, including Skills USA baking/culinary contest March 23-24 at Columbus State Community College; equestrian judging team at state judging contest March 28 at The Ohio State University fairgrounds in Columbus; cosmetology license exam at OSB of Cosmetology and barber license exam April 1 and 2 in Dublin; and Skills USA national competition June 5 and 6 at Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

• Announced upcoming events: community night from 6 to 8 p.m. April 23; sophomore student acceptance recognition night April 24; and senior completion ceremony 6:30 p.m. May 13 at 7 17 Credit Union Field at Eastwood.
