WHAT: Board of education meeting Wednesday

PRESENT: Elizabeth Dunn, Terry Kelly and LeeAnn Westenfelder

ABSENT: Megan Gibbs and Steve Gilanyi

The board:

• Approved 34 seniors for graduation May 21 at the school complex.

• Approved the 2026-27 school calendar, with first day for students Aug. 19 and last day May 27, 2027.

• Accepted a school safety and security grant for $38,655.

• Created the Eugene Emter Educational Scholarship Fund and received a donation of $5,500.

• Approved participating with the Ohio Schools Council for two years effective July 1 for the electricity purchase program.

• Reported Southington students made a recent visit to Fairhaven School in Niles to interact with students. Officials said this is the first time the Southington students have taken part in the interactive event.

• Approved use of the baseball/softball fields and concession stands by the summer baseball and softball organizations March 1 to Aug. 1.
