WHAT: Board of Education organizational meeting Monday

PRESENT: Julie Altawil, Jeff Pegg, Brianne Perry, Abigail Reynolds and Kelly Vennitti

The board:

• Accepted the following donations: $300 from David Miller to the Paw Pantry; lunch to recognize two students who enlisted at Military Signing Day from Sweet Melissa’s Good Eats to student services; $300 to the science club; $560 for four cases of poster board from Pleasant Valley Church to the district; $249 for the Tiger Den Reading Woods trail’s reading book from Carl Clark; $75 in various gift cards to support the district’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports from Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Omega Chapter to Howland Springs Principal Carl Clark; $100 for the Reading Woods project from Glenna and Ryan Hodges.

• Approved Marissa Reed’s continuing contract status.

• Approved a three-year limited administrative contract for Scott Thompson as activities director, from Aug. 1, 2026, to July 31, 2029.

• Approved a one-year limited contract for Eddie Williams as a monitor at Howland Glen, effective Feb. 19, 2026.

• Approved a one-year limited contract for Hillary Yurjevich as an educational assistant at Howland Springs, effective March 13, 2026.

• Approved a one-year limited nonteaching contract for Nick Hazimihalis as the varsity boys soccer coach, totaling $6,774, for the 2026-27 school year.

• Approved nonrenewing nine one-year limited contracts for classified positions for the 2026-27 school year.

• Approved nonrenewing four nonbachelor substitutes for the 2026-27 school year.

• Approved nonrenewing nine long-term/permanent substitutes for the 2026-27 school year.

• Approved suspending 19 contracts in classified positions for the 2026-27 school year due to lack of funds.

• Approved Kaityn Carsone, Andrea Reilly and Angela Menz as long-term substitutes for the 2025-26 school year, to be paid $130 a day.

• Approved an addendum to the contract between Treasurer Julie Sloan and the board of education.
