WHAT: Township trustees meetings March 3 and 17
PRESENT: Doug Seemann, Rhonda Snyder and Mark Waldeck
Trustees:
• Adopted updates and changes to the zoning codes regarding solar energy rules that prohibit solar farms, but allow smaller scale solar systems that do not cause glare. A new section on short-term rentals was added that requires annual inspections by the zoning inspector to make sure regulations are being followed, and smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are installed.
• Approved the purchase of 50 chairs for the township banquet room from A&M Restaurant Supply at $41 per chair.
• Heard the local historical society will host a Civil War marker dedication in October.
• Heard from Seemann, who spoke to Bloomfield trustees about a grader the township can borrow as part of a cooperative effort among the townships.
• Heard from Ken Weeks of the zoning commission, which will discuss data centers and a moratorium on them at the April 13 meeting. Weeks said there is much discussion at the state and national levels on data centers. A hearing on shipping containers will be at 6 p.m. April 7 at the next trustees meeting. Weeks also asked trustees for a meeting on updating the comprehensive plan to include the military compatibility areas approved by trustees in 2023.
• Accepted Dawson Moisio as a cadet firefighter.
• Announced Central District Court Judge Thomas Campbell will be the speaker at 1:30 p.m. April 7 at the senior center on wills and trusts, and other services offered by the probate court. Plans are also to host ukulele classes at the senior center.
• Were informed that the YouTube channel where trustees meetings are broadcast is up to date.
• Announced cleanup day 8 a.m. to noon May 9 by township hall with a limit of six tires per household, with agricultural tires accepted.
• Announced CPR/ AED training will be at 1 p.m. March 24 at the Bristol Library.
