The sheriff's departments in Mahoning and Trumbull counties were awarded state grants to combat illegal drug activity and promote substance use prevention and recovery.
Mahoning is receiving $104,590 and Trumbull is getting $89,6267 from the RecoveryOhio Law Enforcement Fund and the Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund. A total of $5 million was awarded statewide Thursday.
Gov. Mike DeWine said: "The work of law enforcement has played a large role in the fact that unintentional drug overdoses in Ohio have decreased for three years in a row. We are proud to support local efforts to hold drug traffickers accountable and support recovery from substance use disorder."
