Warren standoff ends with two people removed from home
WARREN — Two subjects, a male and female, were removed and placed in police vehicles after a standoff today near the intersection of East Market Street and Linden Avenue SE.
The male, Tony A. Walton, of 169 Linden Avenue, was arrested and charged with with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. The charge was filed in Warren Municipal Court.
Officers from the Warren Police Department and Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office and a SWAT unit responded to a residence in the area and a standoff ensued.
A person in the home reportedly fired a weapon and authorities spent about two hours trying to get the subject to surrender and leave the residence. The standoff ended at approximately 1:50 p.m.
A Tribune Chronicle reporter and photographer were on the scene, where officers set up a perimeter and taped off the residence as the standoff continued. Officers could be heard speaking to someone in the house, encouraging them to surrender and come out.
