Cortland to meet to swear in new mayor
Staff report
CORTLAND — City Council has scheduled a special meeting for 7 p.m. Tuesday to approve the appointment of a council member to fill the city’s mayoral vacancy.
Former Mayor Deidre Petrosky left office after voters in a special election voted this week to recall her.
The appointed mayor will serve through Dec. 31, 2027. The new mayor will be sworn in at Tuesday’s meeting.
Also a work session originally set for 6 p.m. Feb. 5 on receiving public input on the Cortland safety service complex has been postponed to Feb. 19, because city officials wanted to have a mayor in place for that meeting.
