24th class of Community Stars chosen

WARREN — Ten people have been chosen as the 24th class of Community Stars. The program, sponsored by the Tribune Chronicle, recognizes the brightest examples of community service and the people who do those good deeds. Trumbull 100 is co-sponsoring for the 16th year.

The Community Stars program celebrates volunteers who go above and beyond to make a measurable impact in the community and the lives of others.

Stories about the 10 winners will appear in a special section in the Tribune Chronicle and will debut at an awards dinner April 15 at the St. Demetrios Community Center in Warren.

“Some organizations represented by the volunteers being honored are well established, and others are new. This is a great opportunity to support and learn about the people who, through their selfless volunteer efforts, make our community a better place,” said Sue Shafer, community events coordinator for the Tribune Chronicle.

This year’s community stars are:

• Kenneth Boring of Mineral Ridge

• Sharah Hirt Buzulencia of Warren

• Esther Gartland of Cortland

• Molly Halliday of Cortland

• Moriah McCorkle of Warren

• Lorie Prokup of Howland

• Mary Ann Raidel of Bristolville

• Tom Smith of Girard

• Ted Toles III of Braceville

• Joe Warminski of Niles

Tickets for the awards dinner are $30 and are available by contacting Shafer at 330-841-1696 or sshafer@tribtoday.com. Ticket order forms also will run periodically in the newspaper.

Starting at $3.23/week.
